Away-day guide
Bramall Lane, the Blades.
A note from AwayDayHub
This is the one guide where we can't genuinely claim to be away fans. Bramall Lane is the ground we know best.
We've done our best to approach this guide from the perspective of visiting fans, combining what we know about the place and independent research.
We'd love to get the perspective of genuine away fans visiting Bramall Lane, to give it the authenticity that we can't. We'll do this when we roll out the next website update.
As always, our aim is simple: to help you have a better matchday experience.
Quick takeaways
About the place
Bramall Lane is a popular away day, as there's so much within walking distance of the stadium. It's a short walk from the city centre, and 15 minutes on foot from the station.
It's a fully enclosed, modern stadium. Surrounded by residential streets, it's a historic ground, having been in use continuously since 1855.
Opposite the away end is the Kop, with its two distinctive supporting pillars.
Away fans are housed in the Lower Bramall Lane Stand, accessed directly from Bramall Lane.

Section 02
By train
Sheffield train station is about 15-20 minutes away from Bramall Lane on foot. Many fans choose to head into town first for food and drink, before heading out to the ground.
If you're heading straight to Bramall Lane from the station, exit the station and walk up past the Sheaf Square Fountain. Turn left onto Sheaf Street. Almost immediately the road forks; take the right fork for Shoreham Street. Cross straight over St Mary's Road to stay on Shoreham Street. At the stadium, turn right onto John Street for the away entrance on Bramall Lane.
Park & tram
A great way to avoid the city centre traffic. There are two options, depending on which way you're coming from:
Meadowhall Interchange, Barrow Rd, Sheffield S9 1JZ
Free parking. Good for getting back on the M1 at junction 34.
For the closest tram stop to Bramall Lane, get off at Fitzalan Square and cross to the opposite platform for a Blue or Purple route tram (towards Herdings Park or Halfway). Get off at Granville Road and it's about 10-15 minutes to the ground.
If you want to head via the city centre, get off at Castle Square or Cathedral. It's about 25 minutes to the ground from here.
Eckington Way, Halfway, Sheffield S20 3GS
Plenty of free parking next to the tram stop. Good for getting back on the M1 at junction 30/31.
The closest stop to the stadium is Granville Road. It's 10-15 minutes to the stadium from there.

Parking options
Parking near the stadium
City centre parking in Sheffield is expensive and slow to clear after the match; fine if you're in no rush, but not ideal if you want a quick getaway.
On-street parking is available around 15-20 minutes from the stadium, though online reports suggest spots fill up a couple of hours before kick-off. Check restrictions before you park (at your own risk, of course).
Disabled parking
The club provides a limited number of accessible parking spaces for away fans in the Cherry Street car park beside the stadium. These must be booked in advance and demand can exceed supply.
For all disabled parking enquiries, call 0114 253 7200 or email the club's accessibility contact jon.helliwell@sufc.co.uk
If stadium parking is unavailable, the nearby APCOA New Era Square offers accessible spaces, lift access and an accessible route to Bramall Lane. There is a £10 SUFC Disabled Supporter Parking rate at the point of booking.

Notes
There's a car park on Pomona Street, just off Ecclesall Road which is popular on matchdays. We've parked here a few times. How long it will be there for — we don't know. It doesn't show on Google Maps as an official business, but it has a payment machine. Getting out of this car park can be slow if you try to leave immediately.
Further out
Min walk
Not cheap, but secure and far enough out to avoid local traffic.
2 Holland St, Sheffield City Centre, Sheffield S1 4NL
Notes
Note that the entrance is on Portobello Street.
Min walk
Again, not cheap, but in a good location for Park Square roundabout and getting back to the M1.
3 Broad St W, Sheffield City Centre, Sheffield S1 2BQ
Matchday road closures
Bramall Lane is closed one hour before and after matches, to allow fans to disperse. The Bramall Lane end of John Street is also closed, as is Shoreham Street on the other side of the ground.
Post-match traffic
The roads around the stadium do get congested after matches. Expect delays on the ring road going both ways, London Road, and Ecclesall Road.
Section 04
Sheffield has a booming food and drink scene. From chains, to independents, to street food halls — it's got the lot. Many away fans head into the city centre before the game. Just 5 minutes from Bramall Lane is London Road — which is a food hotspot. Worth the detour.
Around the stadium you'll find the usual burger vans.
Pubs
Pubs close to Bramall Lane are predominantly home-fan territory, so most away fans head to the city centre before walking down — it's around 15-20 minutes on foot.
Closer to the stadium
11 Backfields, Sheffield City Centre, Sheffield S1 4HP
The largest purpose-built food hall in Europe, with 20 independent street food kitchens and several bars and outdoor seating. About 85% of the vendors are from Sheffield, but the food is from all over the world. Worth checking out.
Just five minutes from Bramall Lane
If you're looking for something closer to Bramall Lane, the obvious place to go is London Road, just five minutes away. It's got everything, from smash burgers to shawarma.
Sheffield Station, Sheaf Street, Sheffield, S1 2BP
An award-winning, traditional real ale and craft beer freehouse, inside the train station. It provides a relaxed, conversation-focused environment with its own on-site brewery. Because it sits right on the platform, it is highly popular with away fans arriving in Sheffield, and just before heading home.
57 Howard Street, Sheffield, S1 2LW
A traditional, mock-Tudor style pub, and a popular pre-match meeting point for visiting fans. Just over the road from the station.
54 Howard Street, Sheffield, S1 2LX
Up the hill from The Howard, next to university buildings, this pub has live sports and a pool table, as well as outdoor seating. Serves food.
Surrey Street, Sheffield S1 2LH
An away-friendly option right in the heart of the city. It's a big, open-plan pub with Sky and TNT Sports, pool tables, table football, and a wide range of beers at student-friendly prices.
Unit 20 Orchard Square, Sheffield City Centre, Sheffield S1 2FB
Known for their award-winning house made cider. You can bring your own food, or order from nearby spots using QR codes. Everyone welcome.
Ward's Brewery, 209 Ecclesall Rd, Sheffield S11 8HW
Wetherspoons on Ecclesall Road, with a mix of home and away fans. 10-12 minutes from the ground.
Inside the ground
Inside the ground, expect typical stadium food. Being totally honest, there's so much good food around that you're missing out if you eat in the ground.
Section 05
The away entrance is on Bramall Lane. For busier fixtures, queues can form at the entrance, so give yourself enough time to get through.
Away fans are housed in the lower Bramall Lane Stand, directly behind the goal.
Some away fans have noted that the concourse can become very congested during busier games — worth noting if you're taking children, or are wondering whether to eat at the stadium.
At the full-time whistle, there is no funnelling — you can leave whichever direction you want.
